American Midwest Ballet Opens Season with ‘Momentum’

Omaha, NE—American Midwest Ballet returns this season next Friday, beginning with the fan favorite show, Momentum. Performed every year, Momentum is not a single ballet, but a mixed repertory production and an opportunity for audiences to experience various types of music and styles. This year’s performance is especially festive, marking the company’s 10th year. Momentum will feature Artistic Director Erika Overturff’s original choreography, “Party Animalsâ€, some music from Cuba, and a company favorite, “In the Style of Bob Fosseâ€, which is being performed for the second time.
Brigit Saint Brigit Theatre Company Presents ‘Uncle Vanya’

Omaha, NE—Uncle Vanya, one of Anton Chekhov’s major plays, opens at the Joslyn Castle this week, performed by The Brigit St. Brigit Theatre Company. Chekhov is one of the lucky few authors whose name has become an adjective for describing writing, usually frustrating and introspective, but actors Leanne Hill Carlson and Scott Working see another side to the Russian’s composition.

Omaha, NE—Joslyn Art Museum’s current exhibition, Marks of Genius, is a collection of 100 drawings from the Minneapolis Institute of Art, or MIA. It’s been on display since October, and tonight there will be a special curator gallery talk guided by Dana Cowen, Associate Curator at the Joslyn.
The collection comprises depictions of nature, portraits, allegorical pieces and abstract work. The drawings range from the 15th century to today—including pieces by some of the most renowned artists, like Degas, Matisse, Van Gogh and Andy Warhol.
