Omaha, NE—Other Channels, by artist, Nadia Botello, presented by the Bemis Center, steps away from the gallery setting and onto a boat. The Missouri River will be the setting of this performance and discussion. Botello is something of a contemporary polymath, having been a coder, audio engineer, synchronized swimmer, and now a composer and sound designer. Her diverse background has lead to a composition to be performed by members of the Omaha Symphony this Saturday.
Botello has been studying the Missouri River since before 2020. Her composition is conceptually inspired by the force of water, but it literally corresponds to data points–historical information, USGS water data, and maps from the last century.
In addition to the performance, this boat tour will feature three guest speakers, offering their insights on the Missouri.
The Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts will present Other Channels by Nadia Botello this Saturday, October 2 from 3:00-6:00pm. For more information or to register, go to BemisCenter.org.
