February 12th, 2021
Omaha, NE—Cathedral Arts Project will open a new exhibit this Sunday featuring the works of Russian and American Christian Iconographers. This collection of new works from the Prosopon School of Iconology continue a long and rich history of Christian art.
Russia was once a center for Christian Iconograhy, and it was Soviet expat Vladislav Andrejev who founded the Prosopon School. Since then, there has been a surge in the creation of new work.
Iconography can take many forms, including painting, drawing, and sculpture, and it is inspired by excerpts from scripture.
Cathedral Arts Project will open Illumination of the Word: Icons from the School of Prosopon this Sunday, February 14 from 1-5pm. The exhibit will be on display until March 28 with a first Friday reception on March 5. For more information, visit CathedralArtsProject.org.
