Omaha, NE—Omaha Symphony returns with another concert this weekend, featuring recently appointed Music Director Designate, Ankush Kumar Bahl. This is Bahl’s long awaited debut in his new position, as his appearance last year was hampered by COVID-19. February 13 and 14, the orchestra will present two pieces with a special importance to Maestro Bahl, Mendelssohn’s “The Hebrides”, and Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2 in D Major.

A 20-year-old Mendelssohn was inspired by a trip to the Scottish islands, and the melody has been described as one of his greatest.

Both pieces to be performed this weekend display a remarkable sense of the environment.

Omaha Symphony, under the baton of Maestro Ankush Kumar Bahl, will present Mendelssohn and Sibelius this weekend, Saturday, February 13 at 7:30pm and Sunday the 14 at 2:00pm.
