Omaha, NE—Opera Omaha will present The Abduction from the Seraglio next weekend, another example of how easily classic works of music and theater can find a home in more modern settings—especially when they’re written by Mozart. Opera Omaha’s production is set in Germany’s Weimar Republic, in a club where Belmonte must rescue his beloved Konstanze. Jack Swanson plays the role of the hero.
The Abduction will be Conducted by Gary Thor Wedow, and Director Alison Moritz had a major part in the original production design of this interpretation. Costume design is new and original to Opera Omaha. From design detail, to the singers’ stage presence, to Mozart’s pace and humor, The Abduction shows the versatility of contemporary opera production.
This is an all-debut cast for Opera Omaha, including Conductor and Director.
Opera Omaha’s production of The Abduction from the Seraglio is this weekend, Friday, February 7 at 7:30pm and the 9th at 2:00pm. For more information, visit OperaOmaha.org.
