Omaha, NE—One of the most recognized ballets ever choreographed and a holiday tradition the world over, The Nutcracker returns to local stages, performed by none other than American Midwest Ballet. It’s a story that many audiences know, but still one that can be enjoyed every year. Â
The Nutcracker is by far the company’s biggest production on the calendar, featuring not just their team of professional dancers, but also ballet students and community members—over 100, with around 250 costumes between them.
The Nutcracker is a welcomed holiday tradition for both audiences and dancers, and each year’s performance has something new to look forward to. This season will feature some Indian inspired dance and a piece from Tchaikovsky’s original score that doesn’t always make it in modern productions.
American Midwest Ballet’s The Nutcracker opens this Sunday, November 24 at the Iowa Western Arts Center at 2:00pm. The show will continue at the Orpheum Theatre with two performances on December 7 at 2:00pm and 7:30pm and another 2:00pm show on the 8. For more information or tickets, visit AMBallet.org.
