Opera Omaha Presents ‘Madama Butterfly’
October 31st, 2019
Omaha, NE—1904, an American sailor lands in the port of Nagasaki, Japan, where he meets his bride-not-meant-to-be, and his deception opens the tale that leads to nightmare. It’s the plot of arguably one of the most iconic operas ever written, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, making its return to Opera Omaha this weekend. It’s also the return of Opera Omaha’s historic collaboration with famed local artist, Jun Kaneko, working with Director Leslie Swackhamer.
Kaneko’s minimalist, yet careful design, in conjunction with Puccini’s unforgettable music and the work of the entire creative team and cast have illuminated Madama Butterfly for audiences of the 21st century.
Opera Omaha will present Madama Butterfly Friday November 1 at 7:30pm and Sunday November 3 at 2:00pm at the Orpheum Theatre. For tickets or information on the performances or related events, visit OperaOmaha.org
