Omaha, NE—Omaha Symphony concert and season tickets are available now, leading up to its opening performance on September 20. Not quite a centenary yet, but at 99 years running, the thought crosses the minds of company members.
As always, the season will feature classical masterworks, beginning with Dvorak, with Chopin, Haydn and Brahms following, but the music of Broadway and Hollywood are also prominent in the symphony pops concerts and film screenings. Rogers and Hammerstein and Motown are featured this year as well as film scores, like Danny Elfman’s Batman, and John Williams’ Empire Strikes Back and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Film music was once an accessory to the greater musical canon, but as the desire for it grew and the technology of production developed, film scores have become integral to modern culture and orchestral performances, and Richardson has become a go-to movie conductor.
Omaha Symphony tickets are on sale now. To learn more about various concerts, including masterworks, pops, symphony rocks, and other series like family concerts and Symphony Joslyn, visit OmahaSymphony.org.
