Omaha, NE—A leader in Omaha’s experimental and new music scene, the Generator Series at Kaneko returns this Saturday with “Gamesâ€. The concert features both local acts and returning alum of the Under the Radar Festival, all focused on making music playful.
Completing a maze might not seem like music, but Kelley Sheehan’s device integrates hardware and software to translate in-game movements into an improvised sonic experience.
Alexa Dexa, returning to Omaha after performing in last year’s Under the Radar Festival, also comes with new ideas and tools for music. She has received a grant from Opera America, and she will be performing in a swimming pool —not just a set piece, but an integral part of the composition.
Before the show, guests can enjoy a cocktail hour and a number of electronic games to play for themselves. A childlike playfulness and “joie de vivre†are the heart of “Gamesâ€, but cutting edge innovation and technology are its legs.
“Gamesâ€, part of the Generator Series, is this Saturday, June 8 at Kaneko, featuring Kelley Sheehan, Alexa Dexa, and the Polka Police. Doors open at 6:00pm with the concert starting at 7:00. For more information or tickets, visit thekaneko.org.
