American Midwest Ballet might be a new name, but the company will be continuing some of their classic programs, beginning the season with Momentum. Momentum is not one ballet, but several performances highlighting a diversity of periods, musical styles, and technique. Matthew Lovegood, Ballet Master of American Midwest Ballet.
Momentum will feature choreography to classic composers like Schubert and Joseph Canteloube, but also a newer piece by Harrison McEldowny.
The focal point of the evening is Gerswin’s iconic “Rhapsody in Blue,†choreographed by the company’s Director, Erika Overturff.
The company might be returning from a hiatus, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been hard at work.
American Midwest Ballet’s Momentum is this Friday October 19th at 7:30pm and Sunday the 21st at 2:00pm at the Iowa Western Arts Center. For more information or tickets, visit AMBallet.org.
