Omaha, NE—At the Okada Center at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, artist Jenny Yurshansky is forming metal into coils, which will become integral pieces to one of her larger ceramic works. It’s all part of the current Artist Residency Program at Bemis, hosting 10 artists out of almost 300 hundred applicants. It’s a chance for artists from all over the country and around the world to live and work carefree in Omaha for about three months. Their works in progress and studio spaces will be on display at Bemis this Saturday.

Omaha, NE—This weekend, the Union for Contemporary Art will open Sounds Good, an exhibition by local artist, Ella Weber at their Wanda D. Ewing Gallery.
Weber emphasizes perhaps the least glamorous part of the artist life. Even after attaining a Masters in Fine Arts, showing all over the country, and attending several residency programs, Weber, like many artists, still works a full time job unrelated to the arts—in her case, a deli.

Omaha, NE—Vesper Concert Series, one of Omaha’s most dedicated classical music organizers, will host the chamber music ensemble, Sybarite5 this Monday, July 16th. Departing from classical standards, Sybarite and vesper offer a new experience for the audience. Sybarite5 is a classically trained and organized string quintet, but they’re repertoire includes the likes of pop stars, like David Bowie and Radiohead. They’ve been called classically trained rock stars.
