Shakespeare on the Green Continues with ‘King John’

Omaha, NE—Nebraska Shakespeare’s 2nd production of Shakespeare on the Green is running now—King John. Each year, the company puts on two of Shakespeare’s plays, one comedy and one tragedy, one with a contemporary spin, and one inspired by the period. The comedy, Much Ado About Nothing featured a young romance in a 50s Italian villa, but this weekend’s King John, directed by Vincent Carlson-Brown, won’t spare any of the plays medieval violence.

Omaha, NE—The Nebraska Wind Symphony performs two concerts in the summer around Independence Day. This year, there will be a concert at Chalco Hills on the 4th and one tomorrow at Turner Park at Midtown Crossing. But tomorrow will be their first Community Band Festival, a whole day of music from the Symphony and other Nebraska and Iowa bands.

Omaha, NE—Brooklyn based artist Sheila Pepe’s exhibition, Hot Mess Formalism opens at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts tonight. Comprising over 70 pieces, the exhibition has made its way to Omaha from the Phoenix Art Museum with an added site specific work for Bemis.
Hot Mess Formalism, curated by longtime friend and colleague Gilbert Vicario, is a survey of Pepe’s work. The large scale installations featured tonight are mostly crocheted and knitted together with fibers and other household materials, but Pepe’s prolific body work has been influenced by her extensive studies of many techniques.
