OutrSpaces Hosts Improv Piano and Experimental Percussion

Omaha, NE—Founded just last year, OutrSpaces is rapidly becoming one of Omaha’s premier event venues. In addition to hosting performances by local and visiting artists, pretty much weekly, they’ve already spearheaded some original projects, like Conspire, a summer music festival, and recently a late night talk show. But performance wasn’t even the main idea. OutrSpaces serves Omaha artists as a rehearsal space, and its role quickly expanded. Co-founder, Philip Kolbo.

This weekend, OutrSpaces will host multiple music performances, starting with pianist Matt Blair on Friday.

On Sunday, visiting experimental percussionist Tatsuya Nakatani will perform and give a talk on his craft and share insight for other performing artists. Nakatani is musical nomad, performing over 100 concerts a year. He carries with him a non-traditional assortment of instruments, exhausting himself on the stage.

OutrSpaces is a non-profit organization, and to encourage arts in the community, they’re not worrying about selling tickets. Suggested donation only.

OutrSpaces at 1258 South 13th Street will host pianist Matt Blair, opened by Sopor on Friday, May 11th at 7:30pm. Tatsuya Nakatani’s performance and clinic is Sunday May 13th from 1-4 pm. For more information, find OutrSpaces on Facebook or go to OutrSpaces.org.
