Omaha, NE—This weekend the Omaha Area Youth Orchestra and Omaha Symphony will be performing their annual Side by Side Concert at the Holland Performing Arts Center.

In additions to rehearsals and performances, young musicians in OAYO have a chance to experience collaborations and workshops from both local organizations like the Symphony and Opera Omaha, as well as visiting performers.

The Side by Side Concert is a milestone for the high school aged youth symphony and younger ensembles moving through the ranks.

When the two ensembles combine, well over 100 musicians altogether, Music Director Aviva Segall facilitates a dialogue between students and veteran performers.

For the concert this weekend, the two ensembles will perform Copland’s “John Henry,” the first movement of Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, “Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral” by Wagner, and Liszt’s “Les Preludes.”

The OAYO Youth Symphony Side by Side Concert with the Omaha Symphony is this Sunday, May 6th at 7:00pm at the Holland Performing Arts Center. For more information, visit OAYO.org.
