“Rough Trade” Opens at Project Project
April 13th, 2018
Omaha, NE—Larry Buller, ceramicist and recent MFA graduate of UNL. His exhibition, Rough Trade, opens tonight at Project Project gallery on Vinton Street.
Opposing the rugged and functional ceramic and pottery work, Buller prefers a delicate and decorative pieces.
Buller’s ceramic work emulates the sort of objects you’d find in a typical household—mantle pieces, decorative plates, and busts.
That’s perhaps a muted description of the work, which, while domestic, can be a bit naughty.
Buller’s pieces are also paired with found images, building up the feeling of domesticity, making something like a strange living or dining room. Though modern, and perhaps in contention with other contemporary ceramic works, Buller’s revives old traditions.
Rough Trade opens tonight at Project Project gallery on Vinton Street and will run until May 4th. For more information, visit projectprojectomaha.com.
