Omaha, NE—The Vesper Concert Series, now in its 30th season, is welcoming the Concordia String Trio to the Presbyterian Church of the Cross this week for Serenades and Such. The group will perform contemporary pieces and classics, including a five movement serenade by Dohnanyi and Beethoven’s serenade in D major, one of several from the German composer.

The concert will also feature work by living composers, Andrew List from the Berkley College of Music in Boston and Tom Larson, assistant professor at UNL whose piece entitled “Nine”, was inspired by the industrial rock group Nine Inch Nails.

Known for their eclectic repertoire, the Concordia String Trio began in 1999, and its members have known one another since high school and college.  But, the ensemble doesn’t have a home. Marcia Liebenow is concertmaster of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Leslie Perna teaches at the University of Missouri- Columbia, and Becker is a professor here at UNL.

The Concordia String Trio will perform this Sunday, March 18th at 3:00pm at the Presbyterian Church of the Cross. For more information, visit vesperconcerts.org.
