Lincoln, NE – Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts vetoed the repeal of the death penalty Tuesday and made another appeal for senators to support him in a veto override vote today. And lawmakers debated a proposal to allow meat-packers to own hogs, with both sides invoking the future of agriculture in the state.

Governor tours damaged Tecumseh prison

Pete Ricketts, Corrections Director Scott Frakes, Warden Brian Gage and about two dozen members of the media toured the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution Tuesday — nine days after inmates took over part of the maximum security prison in a disturbance that left two prisoners dead.
