The Rose Theatre presents Holiday Time Around the World for kids five and older to explain some of those holiday traditions.
Amanda Kibler is the associate education director at the Rose, and she also directs the show. At the start of this production, Kibler said the fourth wall immediately comes down when the cast takes the audience on an interactive time traveling trip around the world. “When we break that down, that’s when the actors don’t even pretend like there’s a wall there,” Kibler said. “They talk to the audience, and really engage them.â€
Kibler said the production explores various winter holidays including Christmas, Kwanzaa, Chinese New Year, and Hanukkah by telling stories.
“I think it’s also really important for us as people to understand different cultures,” Kibler said. “Because that helps you become a more sensitive person and a better contributor to society on a whole, if you understand where multiple people are coming from.â€
The show kicks off December 26 and runs through the 30th at the Rose Theater in downtown Omaha.
