The work of more than 30 students is on display at the University of Nebraska at Omaha through Mar. 17
The pieces were chosen from over 150 works submitted by more than 50 students. Denise Brady, Gallery Coordinator at UNO, said the exhibit features a wide array of artwork – from large scale, bright colored paintings to black and white photographs, prints and large sculptural installations. The all-student show is high-quality, she said, and intriguing for gallery goers who can watch some of the artists evolve through their work.
“There are several students with work in this show who have more than one piece,†she said. “They work on a theme or have very different pieces and are experimenting with different styles and media.â€
“You also get to see all the different types of media available to students here at UNO.â€
Brigitte McQueen, curator of the Underground Gallery at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, is the guest juror of the exhibit and selected the pieces on display. She has also selected scholarship winners, who will be presented Friday night at an opening reception at 5pm. The exhibition continues through March 17th at the UNO Art Gallery in the Weber Fine Arts Building.
