Ericka Overturff, the artistic director for the dance company, said “We were really lucky to have so many choreographers that … came from around the country here to work with our dancers.”
“So it’s a great chance for people from Omaha to … go and see a lot of creative minds at work.â€
Overturff said one of the short ballets was created in partnership with the Joslyn Art Museum. It was based on a community vote on three paintings from the museum’s permanent collection.
“They selected the painting Connemara by May Stevens, and I choreographed this new work … so it’s really neat,” she said. “During intermission, people will get to go look at the painting, and then get to see the ballet that was inspired by that painting.â€
The show will be performed Friday at 8 pm at the Iowa Western Community College Arts Center and Saturday at 8 pm at the Joslyn Art Museum.
