Neil Simon’s play first opened on Broadway in 1965. It’s the story of two mismatched friends, a neurotic, tightly-wound Felix, who’s depressed after his wife leaves him, and a laid-back, fun-loving Oscar, who’s also a slob and recently divorced.

Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon played the parts of Oscar and Felix in the 1968 film version of the play. The film's screenplay was also written by playwright Neil Simon.
In the original production, Walter Matthau played Oscar, and Art Carney played Felix. Simon wrote the screenplay for the film version three years later, when Matthau returned to play against Jack Lemmon as Felix.
The Odd Couple will take the stage in Omaha, beginning Friday night at the Omaha Community Playhouse. Oscar will be played by Edward Cutler, and Felix by Anthony Clark-Kaczmarek. The play is directed by Judy Hart, and will run through February 13th.
