Omaha, NE – By year’s end, Dennis Bergland and Harrison Lingenfelter may need new shelves. The two senior offensive linemen have added awards to their collections yet again. Two weeks after being named first-team all-conference selections by the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics association, the tandem was honored again, this time by a larger group.

On Wednesday the All-Super Region Four first-team was announced. Region four covers much of the south-central United States, between the Rocky Mountains and the Mississippi River. The list included both Lingenfelter and Bergland. They are just the third and fourth players in UNO history to receive the awards.  Head Coach Pat Behrns said the honor is good for the program and for the pair.

“First of all, very, very much deserving,” Behrns said. “Obviously, on our team, they were very much a big part of what we’ve done for the past three or four years. So, it was a big compliment to them and to their teammates to give them that shot.”

The pair anchored a line that helped the Mavericks finish second in the conference in rushing offense and gave up only 13 quarterback sacks, second lowest in the MIAA.  The two had previously been named to all-conference teams, but had never made All-Region. For Lingenfelter, this season marked his second consecutive first-team all-conference award. Bergland landed on the second-team last season.

Behrns said he will miss the duo’s experience next season.  “Both of them are going to graduate here in December,” he said. “They’ve been good people to be around. You know, they’re going to be guys that, someday, I hope we can say we knew them.”

The two have a chance for more honors, with the NCAA Division II all-Americans to be announced on December 14th.  Lingenfelter was a pre-season second-team all-American.
