Playhouse remembers John Lennon
December 8th, 2010
Omaha, NE – It’s been 30 years since John Lennon was shot and killed outside his New York apartment. In memoriam, the Omaha Community Playhouse will be hosting a Beatles tribute performance Dec. 9.
It was a historic day in music history, and a mournful one for millions of Beatles fans around the world. John Lennon was shot and killed on Dec. 8th, 1980 walking into his New York apartment building.
Lennon was known for his contributions to conceptual music, his innovations in multimedia composition, and his poetry, and pacifist message of peace.
The Omaha Community Playhouse will be hosting a tribute performance for John Lennon Thursday night, featuring Omaha cover artists Billy McGuigan and his brothers Ryan and Matthew. As always, the group will take requests from the audience, and create an interactive performance. Without the accents or the clothes, they’ll attempt to recreate Beatlemania.
Thursday’s performance is a special night in a month-long Beatles tribute at the Playhouse, Yesterday and Today. That continues through Dec. 31st, and the one-night-only Lennon tribute is Dec. 9, at 7:30pm.
