Omaha, NE – Ciaran Nagle, a lead singer of Riverdance and a founding member of the Three Irish Tenors, has performed with violinist and Omaha native Tara Novak for about seven years. Their joint project, Ishna, is a musical blend of classical and Irish music, with a contemporary twist.

Holly McAdams, Community Arts Program Manager at the Bemis, said the two artists are both very much influenced by Irish and classical music. “But at the same time too, for their original works, even if they’re based on more traditional songs, they’re also very heavily influenced by everything from pop to rock or, I would say, more electronic or dj music. So they have a lot of influences that they’re really bringing a contemporary or new viewpoint to the different songs that they’re doing.”

McAdams said Novak has played classical violin since she was five years old, and is a versatile performer influenced by jazz, rock and Broadway show tunes.  She said she has wanted to perform in her hometown for years, while she traveled in New York City, and on tour with Nagle and the Three Irish Tenors.  The one-night-only performance takes place at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art in downtown Omaha Monday, Dec. 20 at 7pm.
