Vesper Concert Series Welcomes Arx Duo
November 15th, 2019
Omaha, NE—This Monday, the Vesper Concert Series will welcome the Arx Duo to Omaha, two percussionists, Mari Yoshinaga and Garrett Arney. They have performed with marimbas and other melodic percussion instruments in the past, but they also incorporate drums and found objects in their work, like soda and soup cans. According to Arney, it’s about expanding the world of percussion and being able to create more sounds than two musicians should be capable of.
This Monday evening’s concert, Atlas, is largely inspired by the 50-year anniversary of the moon landing. Arx Duo will arrive with some special guests on stage.
Unlike many musicians, Arx Duo and company want audiences to get involved with the creation of their work. In order to advance their creative practice, the ensemble will invite concert goers up to the stage to watch and give feedback on their work.
Arx Duo will perform Atlas as part of the Vesper Concert Series at the Presbyterian Church of the Cross this Monday November 18 at 7:00pm. This event includes a 6:30pm pre-talk with composer, Nick DiBerardino and a post-concert Q&A. For more information, visit VesperConcerts.org.
