Omaha, NE—1904, an American sailor lands in the port of Nagasaki, Japan, where he meets his bride-not-meant-to-be, and his deception opens the tale that leads to nightmare. It’s the plot of arguably one of the most iconic operas ever written, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, making its return to Opera Omaha this weekend. It’s also the return of Opera Omaha’s historic collaboration with famed local artist, Jun Kaneko, working with Director Leslie Swackhamer.

Nebraska Wind Symphony’s ‘Spooktacular’ Concert

Omaha Symphony Performs ‘Chopin and Swan Lake’

American Midwest Ballet Opens Season with ‘Momentum’

Omaha, NE—American Midwest Ballet returns this season next Friday, beginning with the fan favorite show, Momentum. Performed every year, Momentum is not a single ballet, but a mixed repertory production and an opportunity for audiences to experience various types of music and styles. This year’s performance is especially festive, marking the company’s 10th year. Momentum will feature Artistic Director Erika Overturff’s original choreography, “Party Animals”, some music from Cuba, and a company favorite, “In the Style of Bob Fosse”, which is being performed for the second time.
