5th New American Arts Fest in Benson

Omaha, NE—Tonight marks the 5th year of the New American Arts Festival, a collaborative event hosted by Lutheran Family Services and Benson First Friday. It’s an opportunity for immigrants and refugees to share their passions and skills with the community through performances and workshops, and for Omaha to learn about rich traditions from around the world. What started as a small event with just a few artists, The New American Arts Festival has expanded, with many booths and vendors and multiple workshops at the Benson Community Center. This year, Nepali and Syrian cooking lessons and a how-to on making jewelry from reclaimed objects.

The Festival will also feature numerous performers, including the Umoja Choir, an Iraqi band, and the Mexican Dance Academy.
