Omaha, NE—The Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts current residency joins artists from all over the country, focusing on painting, design and writing. They’ve been working hard in their studios since early January, and their works progress will be on display for the public this Saturday during Bemis Center’s Open House/Open Studios.

John Yoyogi Fortes is a painter from Sacramento, CA, and his previous work has examined culture and identity, sometimes featuring his own recurring characters.

Jacob Stanley from St Louis works with large scale installations. His work can be frightening, as many of his pieces depict scenes that resemble elaborate accidents, or accidents waiting to happen. They feature heavy machinery, and precarious interactive structures.

The Bemis Center’s Open House and House and Open Studios is this Saturday, March 10th from noon to 4. The afternoon begins with an artist talk and a live performance at 1pm. Studios open at 2pm, along with an all ages art activity. For more information, visit BemisCenter.org
