On this episode of “Road to Omaha,” KVNO’s Brandon McDermott spoke to Clemson head baseball coach Monte Lee about his teams’ depth, chemistry and will to win.

Omaha, NE – Clemson (38-15 overall, 16-11 ACC) has two players in the top 200 prospects for the MLB amateur draft, headlined by solid all-around defender catcher Chris Williams.

The Tigers have outscored opponents 100-28 in the first two innings of games this year. Coach Lee said getting out on top of opponents is vital to building confidence and staying loose as a team.

Since April 1st Outfielder Reed Rohlman has had 15 multiple hit games. In that time he’s raised his batting average nearly 60 points (.316 to .387). Lee said Rohlman’s experience played the biggest role in him finding that consistency.

Clemson has 3 solid weekend starting pitchers and a weekend starter. The four of them have each started more than 12 games and boast a strikeout to walk ratio of 3-to-1 or better. If Lee’s Tigers win two more games this year, it will be his fourth year in a row with 40 wins in a season as a coach. Lee pushed credit for the success to his players.

A lone series with NC State looms this weekend before the ACC Tournament next week.
