Omaha, NE — May is almost over, but there’s still time to recognize a Classical Kid with a big heart.[audio:http://www.kvnonews.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/jayan-web.mp3]
“My favorite piece to play is ‘PBJ Blues’ because it’s very funny and it has fun lyrics in it also,” she said.
Anjali also plays the cello.
“It’s also a very unique instrument because a lot of people usually play violin or viola and I decided to play the cello,” she said.
She says another reason she plays cello is to make music with others.
“A lot of my friends are also in orchestra, and I have some friends who also play the piano,” she said.
Anjali’s non-musical activities include creative and athletic pursuits.
“I like art and swimming and I do Taekwondo – I’m a blue belt,” she said.
Anjali’s favorite subject in school is science, though she also enjoys learning new things as a girl scout. She also volunteers, including a recent fundraising effort for the Alzheimer’s Association.
“So it was a lemonade and bake sale, we had a lot of people help together so that way we could help the people who have Alzheimer’s,” she said.
Anjali is undecided about what she wants to do when she grows up, but not for lack of ideas…
“I used to think I would be a part-time astronaut and photographer, then I was going to be a doctor, then a nurse, then an actual photographer, and yeah…” she said.
